TU Delft’s mission is to make a significant contribution towards a sustainable society for the twenty-first century by conducting ground-breaking scientific and technological research which is acknowledged as world-class, by training scientists
and engineers with a genuine commitment to society and by helping to
translate knowledge into technological innovations and activity with
both economic and social value.
Research at TU Delft encompasses
virtually the entire spectrum of engineering sciences and it is this
breadth that forms the basis for TU Delft’s strong scientific profile.
The research questions we tackle are strongly inspired by important
future challenges facing society.
TU Delft Excellence Scholarships are in line with our research-based initiatives such as Health, Energy,
Globalization and Infrastructures & Mobility which are among the
most important themes in today’s society. TU Delft aims to make an
important scientific contribution to solving issues facing society that
relate to these four themes, working from a thematic, multidisciplinary
cooperation.
Moreover, TU Delft is in the process of raising its
international profile in several areas, some of them relatively new.
This is to be achieved by clustering research capacity – either
physically or virtually – in a number of university-wide institutes.
This clustering of high-quality research capacity puts us in a better
position to join national and international consortia and networks, and
also makes us more attractive to top scientific talent.
Within the
scope of the Excellence Scholarships, TU Delft also offers the Justus
& Louise Van Effen Scholarships, financed by the legacy of Justus
and Louise van Effen. Mr. van Effen studied at TU Delft in the 1940’s
and strongly believed technological developments contribute to solving
society’s issues.
The Foundation Justus & Louise van Effen was established with the
aim of stimulating excellent international MSc students and financially
supporting them in their wish to study at TU Delft.
